This pet-free 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom real split log cabin is built high on Hatcher Mountain, with a splendid view looking across wooded hillsides to Cove Mountain. Its location in Wears Valley is totally secluded.
The entry opens to a friendly vaulted great room area. The galley kitchen is compact and complete, with an adjacent powder room and dining table seating for 6.
Listen to the crackle and pop of the fire in the real woodburning fireplace with mountain stone hearth in the living room, while watching your favorite reality show on the satellite TV.
Up the staircase is an open loft bedroom, with a queen bed and full private bath. Downstairs is the king master bedroom with both a full shower/tub combo bathroom and completely separate Jacuzzi whirlpool room to enjoy.
Step outside to the large, completely covered double decks. Load the large charcoal grill with burgers, and rock the afternoon away until night begins to fall. My family stayed here for 2 nights and even with just 2 bedrooms had plenty of space for me and my husband, our 2 children and my parents. The view from the back porch and hot tub were my favorite parts about the cabin. The Wears valley area is a beautiful part of the Smokies. Gps will not get you to the sitting rock cabin we stayed in so follow the directions provided at check in. Would love to come back again

The cabin was nice we had a wonderful time. The view was amazing and the hot tub looked out at it! Location was good about a 20 min drive into the heart of Pigeon Forge. Easy turn around to get out of driveway . CONS - Appliances need updating. Beds are very firm and bouncy. No TV in master bedroom.

Comfortable and Good Location4/5 ★★★★★ Stayed March 2024Tom C.We enjoyed our stay. We had to contact office for some extra washcloths and some dish soap, which they responded immediately. They were super nice and helpful. The cabin was very clean and beds were comfortable. Suggestions would be to include the little things because it’s the little things that bring families back. We had two wash clothes for a family of four that booked three nights. Office did bring more when called. Kitchen could include more items like eating forks, dish soap, skillets that Teflon was not scratched off, and Keurig. Updates would be nice with the tv as most places have a smart tv.

Owner Response
Thanks for bringing these issues to our attention, and I am sorry for the inconvenience. I am glad the office staff was able to provide you with the items you needed. We will definitely take a look at the kitchen items you mentioned and make the needed replacements. I will also recommend to the owner getting a Keurig and smart tv at some point in the near future.

This is the third cabin we have stayed in at VCR. It was very nice. The furniture has been updated and the beds were comfortable. For the most part it was clean. The only negative I can say about the cleaning are the cobwebs. I understand it’s difficult to get them all but I took the vacuum to several that were within arms reach in the bedroom and bathroom in the loft and the downstairs bathroom. We had the same concerns at one of the other cabins we stayed in.
The other concern with Sitting Rock we had was finding it in the dark. The signs are too high to see. It would be helpful to have them lower. Our GPS picked up the cabin address but because it’s located directly behind a private home it sent us down their driveway. We called the after hours helpline and he gave us much more specific landmarks and we were able to find it.
All in all we have enjoyed each of our stays with VCR and have recommended it to others. We will continue to try new cabins there when we stay in that area.
Thank you,
Scott and Sandy Ridley

Sitting Rock is a very nice older cabin. The hot tub gave us a was wonderful experience while enjoying the view of the mountains. There are some repairs and upgrades needed: the stove broiler doesn’t work, the beds definitely need mattress toppers (unless hard is your pleasure), something is living in the chimney, and there were lots of spiders and a few mountain scorpions. The advertisement said 3 TV’s. There are only 2. And No WI-FI. In spite of these issues, our stay was very enjoyable. The staff at Volunteer Cabin Rentals was extremely nice.

This is our honeymoon cabin! We’ve stayed here at least six times, it’s like our home in the Smokies. We first stayed 22 years ago, very little has changed and we love it. Perfect view of Hatcher Mountain in all seasons. Lots of privacy. Cozy hot tub and cabin is spacious enough for 6 people. Comfortable for 4 adults. Master bed could use a new mattress, but it’s not unbearable.
We will be back for many years to come.

This was out post tax season getaway and he had a great time. The cabin was very nice, spacious and comfortable. Sitting in the hot tub every night and starring at the mountains was the best part of the cabin. We were on hiking trails most of the days so we only spend the evenings at the cabin so the hot tub was very much appreciated. There were a few little items that needed to be fixed in the cabin and we left a list with the keys so that they could be taken care of for the next guest. They did not impact our stay very much as they were for the most part, minor issues......but the details make the difference between 4 and 5 stars. Thank you for the stay at the beautiful cabin and we will consider it again when we visit Tennessee again.
