Description
When visiting the Great Smoky Mountains, many enjoy the therapeutic sound of rushing water over the boulders that line the beds and banks of the rivers that flow down the mountainsides. Capture that same tranquility while residing at Brookstone Lodge on your next vacation here.
This 6 bedroom, 6 1/2 bath home offers the ideal location for whatever plans your large gathering might desire. From its hillside vantage point, guests can experience stunning views of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, across the treetops, to the picturesque mountain range vista beyond. With a panoramic open sky view, every season offers its own incredible natural gifts to observe.
For both planned events and personal play outdoors, the home's design provides the setting for memories. Easy access to arrive quickly ends at a generous paved parking area for multiple vehicles, a paved covered portico, and a gently-sloped yard play space. Find every opportunity to absorb the natural surroundings on the open and covered deck areas of the front porch. Get lost in your thoughts swaying on the bench swings. Sit down in rocking chair row for a quiet solitary moment, or indulge in the luxury of no thoughts at all except the swirling therapy of the corner hot tub, with a night sky of stars above. Have a charcoal-grilled dinner at the picnic dining tables, and then gather at the covered stone gazebo fire pit for roasted marshmallows just a few steps away in the yard.
Don't be disturbed by a friendly bear sighting (wooden, that is) outside or even indoors. You will discover the home's interior is an upscale camping lodge with earthy woodland appeal and forest animals possessing playful personality. All can comfortably gather in the wood-beamed vaulted great room, warm with knotty pine wood finishes and a corner ledge stone gas fireplace. The 2-story, full height chalet-style windows enable views of the outdoors from inside the entire space. Rectangular dining seating for 10 can be subdivided for games or puzzles later. The adjacent, open galley kitchen is spacious for multiple cooks, and features a granite serving/dining bar for 4. Lots of preparation counter space makes easy work of snacks or full-course feasts.
The main floor also hosts 4 King private suite bedrooms. The large ensuite baths feature Jacuzzi whirlpool tubs with shower and tiled surrounds. Each bedroom includes its own cozy woodland or tartan bedding and unique flavor to choose from. The upper level offers a mezzanine play area with sleeping sofa, an additional King Jacuzzi suite with separate sitting area, and a "kid haven" bunkhouse room with queen and twin bunkbeds and an extra large ensuite bath.
Everyone can indulge in their chosen form of entertainment throughout the home. Adjacent to the kitchen on the main level is a central game room, where fierce players can compete between a pool table and arcade machine. If kicking back for entertainment is preferred, the upper level media room features a 103" flat screen TV movie screen with surround sound, Blue Ray, and game console connections for an all-night screening party. There are a total 8 satellite TVs, along with free wireless high speed internet access and unlimited long distance for whatever online shopping and social media updates that must occur while on holiday. Also included with your stay are access privileges to both an outdoor community swimming pool and catch-and-release fishing pond nearby.
So while you are here in our mountains, we suggest you take time to choose a large rock in the middle of the river to just sit a few moments and listen. For your personal haven of escape, seek plenty of natural light and maximized views of hillside beauty. Every detail is already covered for you here at Brookstone Lodge. We just finished our 30th family vacation in the Smokeys. We have four generations that come. Brookstone Cabin is spacious, isolated, clean, and has plenty of parking for all the families. This was our third year and we have it booked for next year. The staff is friendly and responsive to every request.

From the moment I called and spoke with Paula I knew that this was the place I wanted my family to spend the week. It was quiet and easily accessible. My 17 year old loved sitting on the porch with his guitar enjoying Gods beauty. My 7 year old twins loved the game room. My 15 year old daughter just loved the peace and quiet. The whole family loved the theater room for the rainy nights. The kitchen was fully stocked for us to prepare meals as a family. Even the pizza delivery guy said it was an amazing place. Definitely a hidden gem!
This was the first time I brought my family to the area and will not be the last.
Check in and check out were so easy.
Volunteer Cabin rental is a great company to rent from with a family touch.
Thank you so much to Paula and the rest of the crew at Volunteer Cabin Rentals for a week that my family will remember for many years to come!

Brookstone is the perfect place for our ladies. Most of the bedrooms are on the main floor and thusly accessible and the owners have recently redone the bedrooms. We’ll keep going back as long as we are able.
We have been using Volunteer Cabin Rentals for almost 20 years and they are easy to work with.

10/10 will definitely recommend. Took a family spring break trip here and our first time in the mountains was fantastic because of this house!!!! We didn’t like driving in these mountains but we definitely enjoyed the house. The kids definitely didn’t want to leave. The picture doesn’t do it justice, we even enjoyed the bears that’s visited us on our trip lol it was a pleasant experience and anyone visiting I definitely recommend booking this particular cabin.

I have originally booked Arrowhead Cabin for our group (18 people; ages 2-77) and VCR was very prompt in updating us the status of the weather in TN since we are traveling from AL. The road to our original cabin was not passable at that time and Melissa was very very kind to look for an alternative cabin for us. The cabin had the best view and very good amenities that kept all ages entertained. We are looking forward to booking this cabin this coming Fall 2024. Kudos to VCR for your hospitality and kindness! Our first snow experience was amazing and you helped us make it happen.

We had a lovely visit to Brookstone Lodge and would recommend. Our family of 15 adults, two toddlers and an 8 mo old were there to celebrate our Dad’s 80th birthday. The layout was perfect for the event and there was sufficient room for everybody.
The cabin was clean. I would suggest considering Febreeze scented Lysol to give the cabin a fresher fragrance. It was sufficiently stock and had everything we needed for cooking several large meals. Appreciate the two coffee pots.
The King size beds were very comfortable. The sleeper sofa in the game room was not. We opted for the air mattress that we brought as a back up and we’re glad that we did.
The bathrooms were very nice but challenging for our 80 year old parents. The grab bars were helpful but the garden tub was difficult to get in and out of and was slippery for me as well. (Age 57) Slip strips in the tubs would be a nice addition. There were a few comments about the low water pressure but it was understandable given our altitude.
The view was perfect. Porch and fire-pit were as nice as we hoped. Thank you for the firewood.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Maintenance came out immediately when we had a battery on the fire alarm go out causing an intermittent beeping.
The hot tub was a disappointment the first night. Temperature had been turned down to 95 (understandably) which felt like a warm bath. It was slow to heat up so preheat prior to using. We adjusted the temp to 104 which was perfect the second night.
Thank you for a lovely visit. We would gladly return and recommend to friends.

Our trips to Tennessee never fail in giving our group the opportunity to get together to make more memories. The Brookstone was the perfect cabin for us to gather after a day at the Ford Bronco Super Celebration. The fully stocked kitchen was amazing and the views from the porch were breathtaking. There was ample parking for all our vehicles with an added benefit of having some being able to park under cover. Thank you to the owners and Volunteer Cabin Rentals for the opportunity to stay in such an amazing cabin.

Our group had a great time at Brookstone! The open concept was great for hangout time and meals. The house was big enough that everyone had their own space and the kitchen was perfect. We really enjoyed the large deck and the hot tub was on point. My favorite part was the view. It was spectacular and far enough away from the hustle of the more congested areas that it was quiet all the time. We will be booking again for the fall!

Get Away Gang4/5 ★★★★★ Stayed February 2023Mike W.Loved the new den furniture! Still one chair in the den needs to be replaced (you know which one). Kitchen was better stocked than prior stays. There are no extra blankets in bedroom closets. Can get chilly due to the fact the thermostat is locked, with a manual schedule. Night schedule runs at 67 and does not change until mid morning. So no adjusting the thermostat. The internet went down when the power clicked off and back on. We thought the router would reset… never did. TV did not go off in the den, but bedroom TV’s would not come on. Please check bathroom tile, floor and walls. It is either not cleaned or could be mold? Tubs can be slick and some bath rails would be a huge safety feature! We really like the Brookstone Lodge, and had a wonderful time as always. See you next year!

Owner ResponseWe are glad that you enjoyed you recent stay in Brookstone Lodge. You mentioned the beautiful new living room furniture that was recently added, and the cabin owners will be evaluating the living room chair soon to see if it is time to replace it as well. I was surprised to hear about the issue you had with the thermostats because they are both designed to give guests the ability to raise and lower temperatures within a general range. Perhaps this ability was affected by the power outage and temporary loss of internet service caused by the severe weather during your stay? We have confirmed that both thermostats are now working correctly and that guests do have the ability to control the temperature. You also suggested that we consider adding blankets in the bedroom closets for chilly nights, and we agree and have already acted on this request. The cleaner was made aware of the issue with the bathroom tile and that has already been corrected. The safety rail issue is one that the owners will need to study in more detail, as it can be difficult to retrofit a cabin that was not built with these railings. They will look closely on their next trip to the cabin to see if it is feasible to add the rails at some point in the future.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on how to keep Brookstone Lodge looking awesome. We welcome any and all feedback from our guests as we are always looking for areas in which to improve, and we hope to earn a perfect review on your next stay. We look forward to seeing you again on your next visit!

We had 5 couples and all were pleased with their rooms. Even at the large table we could all enjoy one another. We loved the fire pit, the morning sunrises and there is nothing negative to say.
