"New Year, New You." We hear it every year. So, as 2019 unfolds, what's the perfect way to recharge your personal batteries?
Why not visit the Tennessee Smokies? The Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge area offers loads of cool opportunities to refresh, renew, and revitalize.
If your family loves snow sports, treat them to a fun winter getaway at Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski Area. Board the Aerial Tramway in downtown Gatlinburg to ascend to the scenic summit, where you'll find family activities galore, including world-class skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, ice skating, and more.
Never skied or snowboarded before? No problem. Ober Gatlinburg's skilled instructors are on hand to give you expert lessons. Simply sign in at the ticket desk, rent your equipment onsite, stow your gear in a secure coin locker, and head outside to the Ski School. Then get set for some serious thrills.
Ever tried snow tubing? It's like sledding but a lot more exciting. And you don't even have to trek back up the hill after each run: Just board the "Magic Carpet," an outdoor escalator, for a carefree ascent. Tubing sessions last a full 90 minutes, and kids ages 3 and 4 ride free with a paying adult.
Did you know that winter's a wonderful time to go hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains? While some trails are closed, many are open, including some with magnificent views. Once the leaves are off the trees, the vistas are wide-open, with views that seem to stretch forever. And when the peaks are snow-capped, the beauty is even more breathtaking.
Try the moderate, paved trail that leads to Laurel Falls – always gorgeous, whether frozen or not. Take Forney Ridge Trail to Andrews Bald, site of marvelous mountain views. Or trek the 4.5-mile round-trip to Alum Cave to see an array of sparkling ice formations. Simply exquisite!
Should Old Acquaintance be forgot? Not in the Tennessee Smokies! If you haven't seen your besties in a while, why not arrange a girls-only getaway in the Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge area? You'll find plenty of fab things to do as you catch up on the latest news:
