Avast, ye hearties! An exciting new attraction has dropped anchor at Pigeon Forge. Gather your crew and climb aboard the Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show for swashbuckling entertainment plus a fabulous feast fit for a pirate king.
Inspired by the popular Pirates Voyage show in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, this all-new adventure is part of Dolly Parton's fleet of Smoky Mountain attractions. And, since its grand opening in early June, it has been wowing packed audiences nightly.
It's easy to see the appeal. For starters, the venue is spectacular: a 30,000-square-foot arena, where two 28-foot-tall pirate ships sit docked in a 15-foot-deep lagoon filled to the brim with 300,000 gallons of water. Blimey!
Then there's the show itself, featuring more than 20 talented actors, singers, dancers, and aerial acrobats, all lavishly costumed in authentic period garb. The mermaids' costumes alone took over 40 hours to make!
To top it off, there's the scrumptious four-course feast, which includes delicacies like "buccaneer" biscuit, juicy bone-in pork chop, "cracklin'" pan-fried chicken, sweet potato souffle', luscious peach turnover, plus unlimited Coca-Cola, tea, or coffee. Vegetarian and gluten-free meals are also available on request.
The entire spectacle – venue, cast, costumes, and more – cost over $28 million. That's a lot of doubloons!
Pirates Voyage is located right next to The Island at 2713 Parkway, Pigeon Forge. Arrive early to explore Pirates Village, where you can purchase pirate treasure, enjoy snacks and soft drinks, and even get pirate-themed makeovers for only $19.99 per person (plus tax).
Your kids will love the chance to dress up as pirates and mermaids. And yes, you can play dress-up, too, complete with face makeup and authentic accessories. Aaarrrgh!
Close to show time, you'll enter Buccaneer Bay, the main arena, where you'll find comfortable dinner seating on each side of the pirate lagoon. As you feast on your mouthwatering meal, the thrilling show will get underway.
The action revolves around legendary Captain Blackbeard, his quartermaster Calico Jack, and his two hardy pirate crews, the Sapphire and the Crimson. Both crews must compete for precious treasure – with stirring battles, rollicking games, plus a final dramatic sword fight.
Along the way, the world-class performers will swing from ropes, dangle from crow's nests, dive, flip, tumble, jump, leap, soar, climb... and do more eye-popping stunts than you can shake a hook at.
Your kids will love the trained critters, including parrots, ducks, dogs, and seabirds... plus Salty the Sea Lion, who steals the treasure (as well as the show).
You and your family will get to root for the crew on your side of the stage (either Crimson or Sapphire). If you're lucky, you'll even get to join in the fun. And, when it's all over, you can load up on swag at the Pirates Treasure gift shop.
Pirates Voyage stages two shows every night – at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. – with occasional 3 p.m. matinees. Call ahead or go online to reserve seats and purchase tickets ($50 for adults, $30 for kids, with group rates and specials available).
