Excitement comes in eight different forms at Tennessee's Gatlin's Fun Center. This downtown Gatlinburg attraction offers a full range of fun-filled activities, from classic outdoor pastimes like mini-golf to thrilling indoor games like laser tag. And now it also offers Gatlinburg's first-ever Rugged Ropes Adventure Course, a multilevel aerial obstacle course in a scenic outdoor setting.
Traveling with children? If they're between 42 and 48 inches tall, they can safely enjoy the Rugged Ropes Course as long as they're accompanied by an adult. If they're at least 48 inches tall, they're free to tackle the course on their own. And so are you, of course – this gravity-defying experience is great for grownup kids as well!
The excitement starts the moment you're strapped in your rugged safety harness, securely attached to a giant overhead track. You'll climb 3 stories high to face 38 challenging obstacles, including zigzag bridges, towering tightropes, and weirdly curving walkways. Using hanging ropes for balance, you'll stroll over rolling pipes and across spread-out stepping stones high above downtown Gatlinburg.
And you'll do it all to your heart's content: There's no time limit for your session as long as you stay on the course.
No special athletic ability is needed, but this complex course will definitely test your agility. Past visitors say it's a blast from start to finish. Your kids won't want to come back down to earth!
If you have little ones in tow, you won't want to miss out on Gatlin's three mini-golf courses – 45 holes in all. (Adults and older children will love them, too, of course.)
Outdoors, two award-winning courses offer 36 holes total in a beautiful hillside setting shaded by towering oaks:
Craving even more mini-golf? Head indoors to the 9-hole Blacklight Golf Course, with its enchanting undersea theme featuring a gorgeous mermaid, glow-in-the-dark dolphins, and a giant octopus. Who will be the first to discover the buried treasure?
Gatlin's provides five additional indoor adventures, designed for all ages and skill levels and ideal for rainy days:
