If you've seen the famous 1997 film Titanic, you know why the ill-fated ocean liner is associated with romance. At the Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge, this association is especially strong during Titanic Sweetheart Month.
All month long (February 1-28), fascinating exhibits will spotlight the 12 honeymoon couples and the beautiful brides-to-be who set out on the Titanic's historic maiden voyage. And the museum's magnificent Grand Staircase – an exact replica of the one aboard the Titanic – will provide a stunning backdrop for proposals, weddings, and vow renewals.
Planning to pop the question? Or plight your troth before family and friends? Call ahead – 800-381-7670 – to make your reservation. You can even arrange for the Titanic's captain to officiate at your ceremony.
And, if you're here the weekend before February 14, you can savor a sumptuous Valentine's dinner in one of several romantic settings – like the Millionaire Suite and the Music Gallery – that perfectly replicate the Titanic's splendid rooms. You can even reserve the fabled "Secret Room" for a delicious three-course dinner, just like the elegant feasts served to the Titanic's first-class passengers. Reservations are required, and seats fill fast, so be sure to call toll-free early to book your spots.
On Valentine's Day itself, you can sit down to a delectable dinner – surrounded by exotic creatures of the deep – at Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies at 88 River Road in downtown Gatlinburg.
From 8 to 11:30 p.m., as you're serenaded by soft romantic music, you and your honey can sample mouthwatering delicacies like juicy, tender steak; zesty shrimp alfredo; rich chocolate fondue; and much more. Plus, you'll receive two adult admission tickets to the Aquarium, two souvenir champaign flutes, two complimentary drinks, and one souvenir couples photo. All at one reasonable package price.
Of course, the Aquarium's "Under the Ocean" event is far from your only option. Several local restaurants offer mouthwatering Valentine's meals, complete with special menus and sweetheart perks such as rose bouquets and decadent desserts. Check out The Melting Pot, The Peddler, and The Park Grill in Gatlinburg, to name a few. As always, call ahead to secure your reservation.
