If you love Dolly Parton, you're in good company. During the course of over 50 years, the country music legend has topped the charts countless times while selling more than 100 million records around the globe. Today she's an American icon, beloved worldwide for her artistry and philanthropy.
Now Dolly is bringing the story of her fabled career to full interactive life at Dollywood (2700 Dollywood Parks Boulevard, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee). On May 24, the world-famous theme park will unveil The Dolly Parton Experience, a multi-building attraction chronicling Miss Dolly's soaring rise from a rustic one-room cabin to international stardom. Whether or not you're a hardcore Dolly fan, you'll be enthralled by her fascinating story as you enjoy the immersive experience.
Located in the Dollywood Boulevard area, the new attraction is three times the size of the former Chasing Rainbows Museum. As you explore its three connected buildings, you'll discover:
Outdoors, the entire Adventures in Imagination area will be completely transformed. Huge, colorful butterflies will light up the landscape. Live music will fill the air. And a new merchandise area will offer premium Dolly Parton memorabilia galore.
It's sure to be an unforgettable experience for the entire family. You'll get to know Dolly like never before – and you'll have tons of fun in the process.
This year, Dollywood will be open a full 280 days, 23 days longer than in 2023. So you'll have extra opportunities to explore the park's many attractions – including its famous coasters, such as the hugely popular Lightning Rod.
Located in Dollywood's Jukebox Junction, this 1950s-themed wooden coaster takes you up a 20-foot hill before racing down a 165-foot drop and hurtling along 3,800 feet of track amid stunning mountain scenery. This year the initial ascent is smoother than ever, thanks to Lightning Rod's all-new high-speed chain lift, which replaces its former motorized launch system.
This new “variable frequency” chain lift provides the precision engineering required to launch Lightning Rod more efficiently than ever before. But rest assured, beyond the launch, nothing else will change. Once you reach the crest of the hill, the ride is exactly the same – complete with all the twists, turns, and airborne thrills you love.
Much more awaits you at Dollywood in 2024, from foot-stompin' shows and festivals to dozens of rides and amusements. And that's just one slice of the family fun available in the Great Smoky Mountains. You'll also find hundreds of hiking trails, scores of cool attractions, plus world-class shopping and dining, all in a magnificent mountain setting.
