One of the things our guests enjoy so much about our cabin rentals is their rural setting. Most of our properties are located in places like mountainsides, mountaintops or scenic valleys, all of which take advantage of the natural beauty of the surrounding Great Smoky Mountains region. From views of the Smokies' highest peaks in the distance to the bucolic and rolling landscapes of Wears Valley, our guests enjoy the laid-back pace of living ensconced in such peaceful environs.
Despite their relative seclusion and their ability to make you feel as if you're getting away from it all, most of our Volunteer cabin rentals are within a short drive of a variety of mini destinations. Here's an overview of what's in play for those days when you want to get out of the cabin for a while but perhaps don't want to embark on an hours-long drive to some far-flung region of the Smokies.
Townsend, TN, is about a 10-to-15-minute drive from our rental office, depending on traffic and the day of the week. Townsend calls itself The Peaceful Side of the Smokies (much like Wears Valley), but it has a lot to offer, including many restaurants, craft and specialty retail shops, outdoor recreation like inner tubing on the Little River, attractions like the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Museum, bike/running trail system and a separate entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
The national park is a very short drive from the heart of Wears Valley as well. Line Springs Rd. in Wears Valley will take you only a few miles to another entrance to the national park, which will in turn lead you directly to the Metcalf Bottoms Picnic Area. From our rental office, you can be there in about 5 to 10 minutes. And from there, other park destinations like Tremont, Elkmont and Cades Cove are a manageable drive.
Finally, you can be in Pigeon Forge in less than 15 minutes when you head west out of Wears Valley. Of course, that opens up endless possibilities when it comes to accessing attractions, restaurants, outlet mall shops and special events. It's the best of both worlds to be able to enjoy accommodations in such a tranquil setting and then have the capability of being in the heart of all the action in mere minutes.
Next time you're planning a vacation stay in the Great Smoky Mountains, consider booking a cabin with us at Volunteer Cabin Rentals. Our property locations are unlike any other in the Smokies!
